Beyond the corporate responsibility for employee wellbeing, there is also an economic trigger as highlighted by statistics released by the World Health Organization :
- 12 billion working days are lost every year to depression and anxiety
- Mental Health Issues cost the global economy around $1 Trillion a year
- Happy Employees are 13% more productive at work
Ecosystm has teamed up with Joye, XLRI Metamorphose, XLRI Alumni Association and NHRD India to conduct a study to establish the Workplace Happiness Index for India, the world’s second largest workforce.
Some key findings to highlight:
- Average Workplace Happiness Index for India@Work is 6.7
- 76% of employees experienced stress and mental health challenges in the last 6 months
- Managers are the number one driver for stress and mental health issues
- Almost 50% of employees take leave to cope with it
